I HAVE 52 EMPLOYEES INCLUDING MYSELF AND THAT IS JUST A BREAKDOWN. I WILL SAY WHEN I BECAME, I HAVE BEEN WITH THE DEPARTMENT 35 YEARS AND WHEN I BECAME DIRECTOR IN 2015 WE HAD FOR COUNSELING STAFF. AND THAT IS BASICALLY A TERM THAT WE USE IN PROBATION TO SAY THERE ARE CERTAIN OBSTACLES AND HURDLES THAT PEOPLE ON PROBATION HAVE. MAY BE A CHANGE OF BEHAVIOR OR A LACK OF TRANSPORTATION OR MAY BE A LACK OF FUNDING OR MAY BE UNDEREMPLOYMENT OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT. SO THE RESPONSIVITY SPECIALISTS WORK WITH INDIVIDUALS. THEY ARE FORMER PROBATIONERS THEMSELVES HAVE GONE TO THE SYSTEM WORKING WITH PROBATIONERS TO GET THEM OVER SOME OF THESE HURDLES A LOT OF THEM HAVE THAT JUST MAKES IT SOMETIMES THE EITHER GIVE UP OR ARE UNABLE TO COMPLETE CERTAIN TREATMENT. SO I JUST WANT TO POINT THAT OUT AS A CHANGE. SO WE SUPERVISED LAST YEAR AT THE END OF OUR FISCAL YEAR WHICH IS AUGUST 31, WE HAD ALMOST 3900 INDIVIDUALS PROBATION WITH US. WE CONCERN OURSELVES MOSTLY WITH DIRECT PROBATION WE CALL THEM DIRECT AND INDIRECT THOSE ARE ACTUALLY LIVING AND THOSE WITHIN MIDLAND COUNTY. AND THAT IS WHO WE SUPERVISED DIRECTLY THAT LIVE AND WORK HERE IN MIDLAND COUNTY. THE OTHERS ARE IN DIRECT. AND THEN RUN WITHOUT COLLECTION OF PROBATION FEES. THAT'S AN ARGUMENT GOING ONE WAY OR THE OTHER BUT THAT'S THE WAY WE ARE SET UP YOU CAN SEE 50 PERCENT OF FUNDING COMES FROM FEES THAT WE COLLECT. SO THAT IS ONE FORM OF FUNDING THERE IS ANOTHER PER CAPITA FUNDING CALLED COMMUNITY CORRECTIONS FUNDING ON THE TOP RIGHT THAT'S ANOTHER PER CAPITA FUNDING BUT BASED ON CIVILIAN POPULATION. SO WHAT PERCENT THAT LIVES IN [00:55:09] MIDLAND COMPARED TO THE REST OF THE STATE. OBVIOUSLY WE DON'T GET A LOT OF FUNDING FROM THAT COMPARED TO HOUSTON AND DALLAS IN THESE TEXAS AREAS. IT IS $352,000 AND THEN APPLY THAT TO CERTAIN PROGRAMS. WHAT I AM CALLING OUR GRANT FUNDING UNDER THE DIVERSION PROGRAM AND WE HAVE TO APPLY FOR THOSE EVERY TWO YEARS. AND OUR SUCCESS IN THE PREVIOUS IS DETERMINANT IF WE GET THE FUNDING AGAIN. DRUG COURT IS IN THERE. WE HAVE TO MAKE THAT DETERMINATION VERY RAPIDLY AND QUICKLY. AND WE ARE NOT TRAINED FOR THAT. THAT IS PART OF THE REASON WHY NO WILLS OR REAL ESTATE THERE IS A NEW SPECIALIZATION FROM NOTARY ON THAT THAT NONE OF US HAS SO WE DON'T WANT TO TOUCH IT.
